Goa rewards planning. Pile too much into a weekend and you'll spend it in cabs; stretch it out and you'll find your favourite shack. Here's how we plan Goa trips for 3, 4 or 5 days.
3-day Goa itinerary (weekend)
Stick to North Goa. Stay near Baga or Candolim.
- Day 1: Land, beach evening at Calangute or Baga, dinner at Britto's or Souza Lobo
- Day 2: Calangute → Baga → Anjuna → Vagator → Chapora Fort. Water sports at Baga.
- Day 3: Lazy breakfast, last beach swim, departure.
4-day Goa itinerary (the sweet spot)
Add South Goa and a Mandovi sunset cruise.
- Day 1: Arrival, beach evening
- Day 2: North Goa beaches
- Day 3: South Goa — Old Goa churches, Miramar, Dona Paula. Evening Mandovi sunset cruise with cultural show.
- Day 4: Departure
5-day Goa itinerary (Dudhsagar + everything)
Now you can add the Dudhsagar waterfall + spice plantation day trip — a 4×4 jeep safari through Mollem National Park to India's tallest single-drop waterfall.
- Day 1: Arrival
- Day 2: North Goa
- Day 3: South Goa + sunset cruise
- Day 4: Dudhsagar + spice plantation lunch
- Day 5: Departure
North vs South Goa — where to stay?
North Goa = nightlife, shacks, water sports, younger crowd, Calangute–Baga–Anjuna belt. South Goa = quiet, luxury resorts, white sand, Palolem & Colva. For first-timers we recommend North; for honeymoons and families, South.
